Last year I won the book "A Roar from Zion" by Paul Wilbur about discovering the Power of Jesus through ancient Jewish Traditions. So this was a Messianic book of sorts and he emphasized the Sabbath and a call to the Gentile Church to get back to their Jewish roots.
Just today they mailed me another book about the last days called "Is the End Near?" by Dr. Michael Youssef.
These are from email contests and while I think that they were giving out something like 50 of the latter, I only entered one or two times. The former book I entered many times but if I remember they were also handing out less of those (e.g. maybe 10 or to that effect)
Now about the radio station: It's WFIL a 5000 watt station north of Philadelphia (about 35 miles from me as the crow flies) that broadcasts on 560AM. It used to be rock and roll years ago but they became Christian and IMO a better move.
Here's the thing about this whole post. I also try to win books for my wife (usually emotional support related and Christian growth types) but never won any yet. Now a 5000 watt station that travels at least 30 miles in a metropolitan area tells me there are many Christians listening. Yet, little ol' me tends to win Jewish type books. What does that say? Me thinks nobody is entering those contests, but they IMO are the more important topics. People are entering the "feel good" book contests more that I must confess I enter for my wife so that maybe one day she would be more grounded for the types of material I read. But with all the troubles we hear about today, I think people ought to be reading and be more interested in these books I won than say, daily feel-good devotionals or to that effect. Christianity has not been a good watchman in general, and is letting too much slip by, and then look at the mess we are in, worried about ourselves. Frankly, I don't even have a hope at all that things will ever improve as we knew it. Rather, only the Second Coming of Our Lord will be the answer for sure.
