To set the scene here much like our own politics today the RRC is very divided Pope Benedict was an Orthodox conservative scholar where as Pope Francis is socialist reformer embraces the popular opinions over traditions. Many believe Pope Benedict is the legitimate spiritual leader even if he does not technically hold the office. Some are saying they want new elections as Pope Francis was in reality serving out Benedicts Term Pope Francis himself has said he may consider retirement due to his health ad the death of Benedict may provide him the opportunity as two living retired Popes would not be good for the church.
No matter what happens here just like our politics the congregation of people are very divided between tradition and reform

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, the Bavarian-born theologian whose conservative Roman Catholicism earned him the nickname “God’s Rottweiler,” and who shocked his flock by suddenly resigning the papacy after just eight years, died Saturday, the Vatican said.
The whole Catholic world was shocked when Benedict decided to step down as Pope. Many Catholics believed that there was something sinister taking place when he resigned in 2013.
Although we’re unaware if Archbishop Vigano has said much about Pope Benedict’s death, he did share some observations about Benedict’s resignation. These observations were captured in a series of tweets on Twitter. The tweets even reference information on corrupt John Podesta’s emails regarding the Church.
