Massive asteroid could be on a collision course with Earth this Fall

A huge 54million ton asteroid could be on a collision course with Earth later this year and wipe out life as we know it – but NASA is not certain where it is.

Dubbed 2007 FT3, the 1,030ft space rock was spotted for just over a day 16 years ago before it became too faint and vanished.

Officially dubbed a lost asteroid, it was observed long enough for scientists to work out its orbit and any potential points it could hit our planetary home.

I doubt that a rock that size will wipe out life as we know it, but it could be one of several "Revelationish" events. For sure if it hits in a populated area that the topography will be permanently changed. That size will probably break apart and the atmosphere will vaporize most of it but several big chunks could get through shotgun style causing several catastrophic destructions in a region.
