The Lord gave a revelation to me today. It's not perhaps the only interpretation, but I found a strong link between 153 fish in John 21 and Exodus 35.
I'm going to put out this thought: While in the past 153 I believed was the number of the elect of God, and I still do, why 153? Why not another number?
well, another number can do the job, too, but I submit to you that this number is used in gematria as an address similar to a computer parsing data.
In Exodus 35 we find an artisan who made the Ark of the Covenant by the name of Bezaleel. That's spelled בְּצַלְאֵל in Hebrew and guess what? Being the Sir Isaac Newton math type I am I "just had to" add up the letters and lo and behold! It equals 153! So that passage in John could be pointing to this man who is so overlooked. What about him? His name means "In the Shadow of God". The Bet means in or on or some similar preposition. The tzase and lamed mean shadow and the last two letters spelled God (aleph and lamed the way we pronounce "el"). To be in the shadow or protection of God was what the whole Ark of the Covenant was about and the ark was to Israel as Christ is to the Church.... a definite analogy. We are under his wings: a place of hiding and safety for these end times. Likewise, the net held all 153 fish safely, the people of God typified by Bezaleel, and did not break but rather held safely in His everlasting arms. This was given as a sign to the disciples, so full of fear and uncertainty, when they did not know what happened to their Lord and their world was ending while Jesus was making a new way for them, securely held not matter what as he shown himself to them in his RESURRECTION.
